
Train operator, Virgin Trains, yesterday criticised the Government for 'seriously underestimating' the demand for rail travel in the UK. The criticism followed the rejection by the Department for Transport of plans by Virgin Trains to add more capacity to its London-to-Glasgow route. Virgin Trains expects passenger numbers on its trains to rise from 20 million a year to 34 million a year in 2012.
