Research conducted by MoneyExpert.com shows that 66% of bank customers would refuse to pay for a current account. This follows banks threat to introduce monthly fees if the Office of Fair Trading investigation (reported 'In the News' 25 April), forces banks to scrap unauthorised overdraft charges. However MoneyExpert.com estimate that 80% of bank customers don't incur overdraft charges. As such there is likely to be strong resistance to monthly fees on current accounts.
